I have visited two of the Pure Taqueria locations in the metro Atlanta area and their taco’s are unique, yet authentic and consistently taste great. It is a spot that I go back for time and again.

For happy hour, the double barrel margarita uses my favorite Herradura double barrel reposado tequila. It is one of the better margarita’s in metro Atlanta, in my opinion.

I’ve eaten at both the Alpharetta and Roswell locations and each experience has been very similar. Their menu offerings are exactly the same and the food quality and service are top notch.

Therefore, most patron’s should receive consistent experiences across all of their locations around metro Atlanta. Or course, there are always one off mishaps.

Here was my experience.

Excellent Food in a Fun Atmosphere

Each one of their locations allows the outdoors in. In the main dining room, you will see large plexiglass garage doors, bringing in a lot of light. When it’s nice outside, the garage doors can be opened, bringing the outdoor airflow, inside.

The one thing I love about the Roswell location is the very large rooftop deck. After a long week at work, it makes for a great happy hour destination.

When eating there as a family, we usually have daily homemade chips (crisp totopos) and house made salsa’s. Our kids typically request an order of Queso Gringo, which is just cheese, but they love it.

On three different occasions, I have ordered taco’s. I have tried the pollo, the camarón o pescado, which was with fried grouper and the birria.

By far, the star of my three different orders were the birria taco’s.

Pure’s birria taco’s are served with braised lamb leg instead of a traditional goat. I prefer the lamb over goat anyway, so this was great. Quesofundido cheese was melted on a homemade crispy grilled adobo tortilla.

The taco’s are served with a very spicy habanero salsa, veal broth and a side of watercress salad.

You have the choice of ordering two or three taco’s at a time. Two was plenty for me, saving a few dollars in the process.

The taco order came with a side of rice and beans. I went with the frijoles charros, I think they were pinto beans (not sure) and they are slightly spicy as they prepared with chorizo. Regardless of the type of bean, they were delicious.

If you have never tasted birria taco’s and you are curious, you should try some at Pure.
