What could be better than after a few errands, stopping for one of the best burgers in Atlanta, at Bocado? This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants in the Avalon, yet a little pricey for a burger.

There are plenty of places to go for lunch in the area, but if you are craving a burger, Bocado is probably the best option.

This is the first Bocado restaurant concept and it is located in Alpharetta, Ga. They are looking to grow the concept in Atlanta. I noticed a coming soon website on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta.

Makes sense. These are really tasty burgers.

If you are wondering what the name means, Bocado word origin is Spanish and Portuguese. Some of the translations I have seen are: mouthful, a delicate bite or a portion.

I can tell you the burger is less delicate and more of a mouthful. It’s a big burger and no I am definitely not complaining about it.

The Bocado Restaurant in the Avalon Mall

The restaurant itself is in the front of the Avalon. You will see it if you exit the 400 at Old Milton Parkway. It shares a building with a furniture retailer, Arhaus.

The restaurant is shaped like a horseshoe. The one side has a bar, the middle is the main inside dining space and the other side has a large outdoor patios. It the middle is how you enter the restaurants as you walk between some benches and small plantings.

Inside the main dining area, the decor is an industrial style. I really like all the natural light and the use of the garage doors when the weather is nice. Come to think of it, the temperature was 74, why not open the doors?

Anyway, it was clean and you can look straight into the kitchen where the food is being prepared

This is a full service restaurant. If you are looking for quick service burger joint, this is not your spot. However, the burger was at my table within 10 minutes of ordering, so it doesn’t take that long.

The Food At Bocado Burger

The food at Bocado is much more than burgers. They have really good looking salads and small plates. They also have dinner plates.

However, they do have a many burgers to choose from, so I had to try one. I asked my waitress which burger she recommends, she said either the Southwestern or the Avalon, depending on if I wanted spice or not. I love poblano peppers, but I decided on no spice today and ordered the Avalon burger.

The bun is the first thing you notice. It looks amazing. It commands the large burger, and I just love a sesame seed bun.

The beef is a double patty with layers of yellow American cheese. On top is caramelized onions, shredded lettuce, tomato and a boss sauce. Honestly, there was so much flavor to this burger, the sauce kind of got lost. But, this Bocado burger is very large and very good.

The one thing I didn’t love, was the price. My lunch cost $27.40. This includes the burger with fries, an unsweet tea and 20% tip. This is not your cheapest cheeseburger option, but given the high rent location at the Avalon Mall it might be justified.

Even though Bocado’s Avalon burger is not the best value, it is still really tasty.

Bocado is located at 2820 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
