We just finished an amazing dinner at Table and Main in downtown Roswell. It was one of those amazing October nights in Georgia. A full moon and dining on the patio. Our seats were right next to the outdoor, gas fireplace. The temperature was in the upper sixties. A picture perfect evening for dining al fresco.

We enjoyed delicious southern cuisine. I decided to go with a classic dish, while my wife ordered the market fish.

This is our third time dining at Table and Main. The first two times, I ordered the special for the night. I still remember the Osso Buco I had last time. Just pure decadence.

This was our first time sitting on the patio. We got lucky this time.

Table and Main Restaurant

While I do consider the food at this restaurant to be at the same quality as some of the best fancy restaurants in Atlanta. The atmosphere feels elevated, yet it is casual. It’s not pretentious. It fact, it feels the opposite. It felt like we were on the back patio of our house, casually with our best friends.

Table and Main is by far one of the best restaurants in Roswell. If you can find a reservation, you will enjoy the experience.

While walking down Canton Street, towards the restaurant, the first thing you will notice is the large front porch with a few tables on it. To the left of the restaurant is a large patio, with about 10 more tables. This is where we sat. The patio is surrounded by a lush garden.

The interior of the restaurant is loaded with classic southern charm. Just like the food, the restaurant just seems comfortable and homey, yet upscale.

Our experience with the service has been amazing. They are extremely knowledgable of the menu and the pacing of the dinner is good. Timely, yet not rushed.

The Food at Table and Main

I haven’t ordered the same dish twice at Table and Main. It’s not because I didn’t like what I ordered. It is because there are so many dishes I want to try.

While on the patio, I heard another customer raving about the pork chop being the best he has ever tried. If I go again, the pork chop is next on the list!

Cocktails and Appetizers

cocktails at Table and Main

We started the evening with a cocktail. My wife ordered a Kingsbury Lemonade. She is particular about her drinks being not too sweet and this wasn’t.

I ordered a bourbon with a single rock. They have a very long list of whiskey’s, some of them pretty expensive. They even had a Pappy Van Winkle, unfortunately that was out of my price range. I went with an Eagle Rare, which is a bourbon I am seeing less and less, due to it being hard to find.

For appetizer my wife choose the habanero meatballs.

The meatballs were not as spicy as I would have expected, but they were very good. My only complaint on the dish, is I wanted my own piece of bread to scoop up the sauce.

Entree’s at Table and Main

fried chicken entree

For the main course, I ordered the fried chicken with a side of brussels sprout. The last time we were at Table and Main, the guy at the table next to us ordered the fried chicken, and I wanted it. It just looked so scrumptious, and let me tell you, it is.

The skin is crunchy and flavorful, yet comes off easily if you are trying to be healthy and avoid the chicken skin. You are served both a chicken thigh and a breast. Sometimes when ordering fried chicken at a southern restaurant, it comes loaded in honey. This is not the case. Just crispy with a touch of salt.

I dashed the fried chicken with a touch of chalupa hot sauce. The waitress offered chalupa or sriracha.

I thought there would be leftover fried chicken, but no chance.

market fish at Table and Main in Roswell

My wife order the market fish. It was red fish, with a side of risotto.

She didn’t like the risotto. She thought it was prepared with goat cheese and she doesn’t like the gamey flavor. I didn’t notice it. I thought the risotto was delicious. So we swapped. She had most of the sprouts, and I enjoyed the risotto.

The fish was served with the crispy skin served up. The sauce was a puree of butternut squash.

The fish was cooked perfectly. Eating red fish like this always reminds me of dining on St. Simon’s Island.
