What could be more fun on a late summer evening, than enjoying live music, under the pines, at Matilda’s in Milton. You won’t see the biggest headlining stars, its just not that kind of Atlanta area concert venue. What you will hear, are amazingly talented musicians from up and coming artists.

They get plenty of blues, folk, country and more genre’s. The day we visited, there was a New Orleans style rock band. A mix of blues and rock and roll. They were amazing!

This was our first experience at Matilda’s in Milton. To be honest, we didn’t really know it existed until 1 year ago. Now that we know, this will be a spot that we return to time and again.

There were a few things we would have loved to know beforehand, that the locals know already. Here are some things to know before your first show at Matilda’s Music Under the Pines.

Reserve A Table Early

reserving a table at Matildas in Milton

I arrived around lunchtime before the show and most of the good tables were reserved already. There were only four of us, so we only needed a small table.

Larger groups needed to reserve multiple tables.

If your group is large, it is recommended to get there as early as possible on the day of the concert to claim your table.

To claim a table, bring blue painters tape and a sharpie. People write there name and stick it to the table. Some people even label and tape chairs to the table to claim the seats.

Things To Bring To Matilda’s in Milton

  • Beer and Wine – Matilda’s in Milton is bring your own beverage. By far the most popular beverage I noticed was bottles of wine, following by canned beer. By all means, pack a cooler and bring your favorite beverages.
  • Cleaning Wipes – The tables and chairs are mostly plastic and they enjoy that outdoors.
  • Table Cloth – Most locals brought their own table cloth to put over the table. This is a nice touch, especially if you are bring in food.
  • Food – We ate before the show at 7 Acres, which is a fantastic restaurant and is right next door. However, it looked more fun to eat under the pines. We saw people with takeout sushi, charcuterie boards, sandwiches etc.
  • Spare Chairs – You can bring in your own chairs. Some people brought the rocking camp chairs. They looked comfortable.
  • Garbage Bag – There are garbage cans at the venue. It would have been nice to bag up our garbage so we only needed one trip to the garbage can after the show.
  • Citronella candles or regular candles – Just in case the bugs get bad. We didn’t have an issue, but a few of the tables around us had candles lit. A regular candle is a nice touch too!

What Not To Do

The music is loud, but this is an intimate venue. You can hear when people are chatting next to you. To eliminate any disruptions, they ask that you save the conversations to before the show, when the artists are on break or after the show.

The concerts only last a couple hours. There is plenty of time to chat with friends when the musicians are not performing

Location

Matilda’s used to be in Alpharetta off of Highway 9. The venue moved to Milton in 2018. They literally picked up and moved the eclectic “hen house.”

The venue is surrounded by pines in beautiful Milton, Georgia.
