One of our kids favorite trips is to the Chattahoochee Nature Center, in Roswell. It is located along the Chattahoochee River, across from the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and the Roswell Riverwalk.

When we visited it cost us $10 per adult and $6 per child. We only did the self guided tour. If you look at their website, there are daily activities for the kids, like Pee Wee Naturalist, Night Hike and Campfire and even beginner paddling in canoe’s. The cost of these programs vary so plan accordingly.

The Chattahoochee Nature Center also has many kids camps and they offer birthday parties. We also noticed there was a tree top adventure center. It was not operating when we were there, but for older kids, it looks like it would be a blast.

Highlight for the Kids

Our kids love seeing animals. Our 4 year old is obsessed with Owls. Luckily they have many different type of Owls. We could have spent 30 minutes just staring at the owls. There are also Hawks, Eagles and Vultures to visit.

We also walked by an heard this little beaver making noise. We would have walked right past it if he wasn’t on the edge of the fence. There is a nice beaver habitat to check out.

There are paved paths that navigate you through the animal exibits and stage area, but there are also a few hiking paths that wind around the many ponds on the property.

All of the trails are easily accessible to most everyone. Even our 4 year old didn’t complain walking around the trails. Here is a summary of the trails and lenghts.

After Visiting the Chattahoochee Nature Center

Head across the street to the Chattahoochee Recreation Area for stroll on the 4 mile boardwalk. You can bring a bike on the boardwalk. If its nice out bring your kayak, canoe or stand up paddle board for fun on the river. Or head over to close by Vickery Creek Trail for a nice hike through nature or go cool down at the Riverside Park sprayground.

After you are done exploring, drive the short two miles and find the best attractions, restaurants and bars in historic Roswell.
