I’ll admit it, Mutation Brewing Company wasn’t on my radar. If you are new to this website, we are trying to visit every Atlanta brewery in the metro area, in addition to all things Atlanta. After today, Mutation Brewing will be added to the brewery directory.

The brewery is located on a busy section of Roswell Road, just before the intersection with the perimeter.

I usually don’t go into a brewery blind, but I did today and it was great.

Normally, I have a couple of beers in mind that I want to try. In this case, I had no idea what Mutation was known for.

If you are curious about the brewery and some of the beers, read on. Cheers!

The Brewery At Mutation

The Mutation Brewery brewpub is quite large. There is a massive double sided bar with plenty of seating. The brewpub has kind of a modern industrial vibe to it.

Outside is a small porch with swing seating. From the patio there is access to small rooftop and an extra bar upstairs for the amazing summer nights in Georgia.

They do have a food menu with apps, burgers and sandwiches. I did not eat when I visited, so I cannot comment on the food.

The Beers At Mutation Brewing

Liquid hot magma IPA at mutation brewing

It’s not everyday that I try a new IPA that offers something different than the thousands of other IPA’s on the market. The Liquid Hot Magma from Mutation Brewing Company reminds me why I started sampling all these IPA’s in the first place. They are complex and can vary drastically in flavors.

This one is has a citrus smell and taste to it, without the bitter after taste of a typically IPA. This beer is very delicious and extremely drinkable.

They call it a New England style IPA, yet it doesn’t drink heavy and lacks the hazy look and feel to it. Yet, the taste is amazing in my opinion. Go try one for yourself!

GIPA from mutation brewing

Unfortunately, I was driving and only had time for a half pour of a second brew. I ordered the Wild Wild East. It is a GIPA. GEIPA stands for Georgia IPA. This one is hefty, with a 7.9% ABV. This was far more bitter than the first IPA I tried.

It is good, but not nearly as enjoyable as the Liquid Hot Magma, in my opinion. That one really left a great impression on me.

The other beer I wanted to try is the Mile High Sour. It is made with purple corn, cloves, cinnamon and notes of pineapple and apple. It was brewed to taste like a Peruvian beverage called the Chicha Morada. I will try this one on my next visit.

Mutation is located at 5825 Roswell Rd NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328
