Ever since moving to Georgia from the Northeast, Southern restaurants have become my favorite in the area. Yes, there are some amazing Southern restaurants in Atlanta. One of my favorites, and one that we return to for celebrations, special events and just everyday night out is Milton’s Cuisine and Cocktails in Milton, Ga.

While I would consider it a fancy restaurant in Atlanta, given the simple elegance of the restaurant and quality of the food, not everyone is all dressed up. Some keep it casual. Yet, most are there after work, on dates or meeting up for a special occasion.

The Restaurant At Milton’s

This restaurant is located in the Crabapple neighborhood within Milton.

The historic 150 year old farmhouse and cottage where the restaurant is located, keep the tradition of the rural atmosphere of Milton.

Around the grounds you will find a large vegetable garden.

They even have a large table and offer garden parties, where you can enjoy a night while sharing a family style meal in the middle of the beautiful garden.

Inside is a rustic, yet comfortable interior. There is a large bar area with plenty of seating. Inside is more formal dining.

My favorite is to sit outdoors on the large deck or patio space. Usually on the weekends, there is live music to accompany the patio dining experience.

The Food at Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails

If I had to categorize the cuisine at Milton’s, I would call it farm to table, contemporary Southern food. There are many traditional southern dishes on the menu that are served with their own unique flare.

Over the years, we have enjoyed dinner at this restaurant many times. Every time, the food is consistently excellent.

I have ordered their prime steaks in the past. If you are craving a steak, they are very good. If you are a steak lover, there becomes a challenge. The main menu is so tempting that I usually order something else beyond the beef.

Crab cakes from Milton's cuisine

On this occasion, I ordered the crab cakes. They were buttery and delicious, with generous amounts of lump crab.

The crab cakes were served over grits. The grits were flavored with goat cheese and lemon. They were a perfect complement to the crab cakes.

My only complaint was that the asparagus was undercooked. There was no tenderness to it.

mountain trout from milton's cuisine

My wife usually orders the salmon, trout or the scallops. This night, she decided on the mountain trout. It is definitely her go to dish. For good reason, the plate looks like artwork and the fish is gorgeous.

The mountain trout is crusted with sesame seeds. The fish is seared to perfection and never a bone found in this trout.

Simply amazing!

The fish comes with a sweet potato shrimp fritter and mashed potatoes.

Overall, the food and service are excellent and the environment is inviting. Go ahead and give Milton’s cuisine a try for your next special occasion!
