This post will share some of the best restaurants serving either Jamaican food or Caribbean food in Atlanta. While the Caribbean is a large place, with several hundred islands or cays. Each island usually has a specialty dish or slight variation.
Caribbean Island Specialties
To give you an idea of some of the islands better known specialties, here are a few, but, by no means an exhaustive list:
- Bahamas – Conch Fritters, Conch with peas and rice
- Barbados- Coucou and Flying Fish
- Jamaica – Jerked Chicken, Ackee and Saltfish
- Turks and Caicos – fried conch, conch salad or conch chowder.
What you find is that many islands serve similar fruits, vegetables and share similar spices.
In Atlanta, most restaurants serve Jamaican or serve a blend of Caribbean dishes.
Given that many menu’s at these restaurants cross over the islands, it makes sense to post about two types of cuisine, summarized in one post, for simplicity. But, all the islands food differ based on each islands storied past and the local ingredients found on the island.

Rather new to the neighborhood in Marrietta, 876 NyamMinz is serving up authentic Jamaican food from a local strip mall.

Minstons Jamaican Deli
While not a traditional sit down restaurant, Minston’s is more of a quick serve, deli style offering and catering spot. Minston’s is scoring great reviews since reopening at Windward.

Located in a strip mall in Norcross, M&J is offering oxtails, jerk chicken, curry and more.

Located in Windward Plaza in Alpharetta, Ya Mon is serving oxtails, jerk chickens or assorted seafood selections.
