Dining out with little kids can be challenging. Sometimes they go to a restaurant and love it. The next time you visit, they won’t eat a thing. Well, everyone in the family loved the experience at Ichiban Steak and Sushi in Alpharetta.

This was our first time taking our kids to a hibachi restaurant. Ichiban was fun, and had something for everyone.

If you have never been to a hibachi restaurant you should definitely try it. The chef cooks all the food right in front of you and she plates it right away. My kids loved when the chef ignited a large fire and also when she made a volcano and a choo choo train out of food.

The restaurant is in a small strip mall right off of Windward Ave. The center has many international restaurants to choose from.

We made a reservation prior to going to the hibachi. This was required. I noticed many people walk in, only to sit at the “normal” part of the restaurant and not the hibachi.

The reservation block was by the hour of the hibachi. They keep a tight schedule, so if you are thinking your dinner can stretch over an hour, think again. The next group of reservations will be waiting at the door.

The service was good, and our chef was excellent with the kids. She made it fun and entertaining with lots of fire and jokes.

The Food at Ichiban

If you order from the hibachi at Ichiban, you will be given a choice of one or two proteins and you will need to pick steamed or fried rice. The hibachi also comes with soup and salad. I picked the filet and shrimp with fried rice. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare.

We also ordered a few pieces of sushi as an appetizer and edamame (our kids love it!)

You can order off the regular menu if you want. Our littlest is a noodle connoisseur. If noodles are on on the menu, he will order it. I think he might just pick something from the hibachi next time. He ended up eating most of my wife’s chicken and vegetables.

Ichiban Steak and Sushi is located at 5306 Windward Pkwy W, Alpharetta, GA 30004.
