For those that follow along with our Atlanta restaurant reviews, you know that I give less of a priority for reviewing secondary restaurants. However, Fox Bros BBQ is just so good, that we went back for more. I was curious to see if the Fox Bros Westside location was as good as the original Fox Bros BBQ in Candler Park.
I won’t leave you hanging, the food is just as good.
The only difference I noticed was the physical restaurant itself.
Fox Bros Westside Location
First thing I will say is that parking is not the greatest at The Works. We found a spot towards the end of the lot, but the lot is rather tight.
The Fox Bros location in the Upper Westside, is large. There is a very large bar area, plenty of TV’s and everything appeared new and clean.
The weather was nice and there were many outside tables, which we took advantage of.
This restaurant seemed newer, nicer and more spacious than the Candler Park location. However the Works location is not nearly as unique. If I was recommending one to someone from out of town, I would probably still tell people to the original. It has more character. But the food is equally as good.
The Food At Fox Bros Westside
We had to start with the wings. I still believe they are one of the best chicken wings in Atlanta.
The price though, it was $12 for 6 wings or $24 for 12. That is a lot for a chicken wing. But they are so good, we shared 6. We actually were so excited we ate two before remembering to snap a photo!
I also ordered the combo meal with 2 meats and 2 sided. I ordered brisket, ribs, potato salad and collard greens. They also had Variant IPA on draft, which I rarely see anywhere other than the brewery, so I ordered one.
My wife ordered pulled pork, baked beans and the Brussel sprouts (which were amazing!)
The kids ordered pulled pork sandwiches.
The brisket was soft and juicy, almost like butter.
The ribs were not falling off the bone, but it didn’t take any effort to remove it. They were seasoned well. They really didn’t need sauce.
For the sides, by far the best two on the table were the Brussel sprouts and the potato salad, followed closely by the collard greens.
While the food was excellent, the service was not so great. My wife ordered a beer, which she almost never does. It took 20 minutes and she brought the wrong beer. Not only the wrong beer the incorrect style of beer. She didn’t drink it. The local beer they brought is one of the least favorite breweries with tasteless beer.
The waitress offered to replace it, but by the time she got there, everyone had finished their meals.
