Providence Park in Milton, GA is a short but very enjoyable place to hike, bird watch or trail run. There are two small loops to explore, red and blue . If you join both trails together, the outermost loop stretches the hike a little over a mile, making this the ideal place to take a quick walk in the woods with the dog or even bring the little kids. They will love exploring the winding creeks, small waterfall and even a large pond.
The park is conveniently located within a few miles of downtown Alpharetta or the Avalon. It is a great place to work of calories after breakfast or a nice lunch from one of these spots.
Providence Park Parking Location
There is one parking lot to access the trails at Providence Park. From Providence Road in Milton, turn on Providence Park Drive. There is a sign from Providence Road, but it is easy to miss. Once on Providence Park Drive, follow it until it dead ends. The parking lot will be on the right.
Providence Park Trails
Difficulty: Easy

Length: Outer loop just over 1 mile.
The Red Trail is accessible across the road from the parking lot. The Blue trail is available from the parking lot. These entrances mark the beginning and ending of the loop trail.
From the Blue trail, follow along the blue blazed trail. If you want to do the full loop, stay far right at every fork in the road and you will circle around the park. After about a halfway, the blue blaze will turn to red.
Once on the red trail you will walk by a nice pond for fishing, hanging a hammock or skipping stones.
After passing by the pond, keep following the red trail up a small hill and follow it back to the parking lot.
Updated 1/20/22:
New for 2022: There is a paved walking trail from the parking lot all to the Providence Lake. A covered pier extends onto the lake. It is a perfect place to take the kids fishing, great for a picnic or a shady spot for reading your favorite book.
