The Big Creek Park in Roswell has some of the best mountain bike trails in Atlanta‘s metropolitan area. Whether you are a beginner mountain biker or a seasoned expert, Big Creek Park has gentle trails all the way to heart pumping drops in the downhill section.

The park has almost 7 miles of cross country, single track trails with varying degrees of difficulty. It also has an expert only, Freeride Park section. There are also pump tracks and dirt jumps to really get the adrenaline going.

At Big Creek Park, there is also access to the Alpharetta Greenway, which has 10 miles of flat, paved trails that runs along the Big Creek.

Big Creek Park also has a 1.42 mile natural walking trail that extends around some of the bike trails.

About Trail Difficulty

All of the trails are marked by difficulty. If you are a beginner mountain biker, stick with the beginner trails. The beginner trails will be more flat and have less roots, rocks, ditches or streams to cross.

At Big Creek Park, the beginner trails are well manicured and have bridges built over rough areas.

For Intermediate trails, you can expect a good work out with lots of hills, twists and turns. Usually the trails are manicured, but they will have roots to jump over, perhaps a jump or two, and some trails will be littered with stones.

Advanced trails are usually more inclines, rocks, roots and are generally more technical.

Stick to your experience level and have fun out there!

The Freeride trails are easily accessible from the Greenway, just a short ride from the parking lot. From the Big Creek parking lot, just keep heading down the road and you will end at a second parking lot. Head to the right. In a few minutes you will see the entrance to the Freeride trails.

You can also access the Freeride trails from the Advanced cross country trails. Fair warning though, it is a rather long ride to get here.

I do not have a downhill bike, so I cannot tell you how the trails are. Please leave a comment if you have information that would be helpful to other bikers!
