7 Acre BarnGrill in Milton, Ga is a wonderful spot to dine, in a relaxed rural setting. The restaurant features a rotating, seasonal menu that will satisfy your comfort food craving. No matter what you traditionally think of comfort food.
We dined there a few months ago, before we attended a small concert at Matilda’s concert venue, which is just adjacent to the restaurants parking lot.
The food at 7 Acre Bar N Grill is excellent. This was somewhat surprising given the solitary location.
Y Acres BarnGrill Restaurant
The restaurant is located on the intersection of Birmingham Highway and Birmingham Rd/Hickory Flat Rd.
The building was once a country store in the 1930’s. It was renovated a few times before the restoration by 7 Acre BarnGrill.
The restaurant renovation restores the historic charm, yet brings a casual farmhouse decor to the space.
There are two main dining rooms, one features a very large bar that serves a gathering space for neighbors and friends.
The other room is slightly quieter, with less distraction from the kitchen.
Outside is a large covered porch. It can be a bit noisy with busy intersection, depending on the time of day you are dining.
On the weekends, you will see a line of motorcycles by the front porch. It must be a popular spot for lunch after a ride through the rolling hills of Milton.
Outback there were a few covered picnic tables that were added during Covid times. Also behind the restaurant is a large garden.
The Food At 7 Acre BarnGrill
I would describe the food at 7 acre BarnGrill as inspired comfort food. Dishes like shrimp and grits, Szechwan spaghetti and slow cooked brisket.
For dinner I choose the smash burger, which I can easily describe as one of the best burgers in Atlanta.
A combination of short rib, brisket and chuck meats are blended to make the double patty burger. On top is a heaping scoop of pimento cheese, a delicious sauce, caramelized onions and pecan wood smoked bacon. A brioche bun keeps the burger together very nicely.
I ordered my burger without fries. I substituted fries for a mushroom bisque (it was amazing!)
My wife ordered the fall chicken schnitzel. This was chicken schnitzel on top of a gingery carrot puree. A large portion of arugula salad dressed in lemon was dressed on top of the chicken. The puree added a bit of heat to the crunch of the chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Crispy, yet not dry.
