Six Bridges Brewing has their original location in Johns Creek, which we have still not visited, but plan to. However, Six Bridges recently opened a second taproom in the newly built section of Crabapple in Milton.

The afternoon we visited, the weather was a perfect fall day, sunny and low 70’s. We took our brews out on the patio, that featured some live music.

Below you will find what we liked and what we thought could have improved the experience. It appears, they are partially open for business when we visited.

For those following along, this our is seventh Atlanta brewery review and visit.

The Six Bridges Brewery in Crabapple

The location features two separate buildings with a large outdoor patio in the middle. When we visited, only the taproom was open. There is a second building that looks like it will become a BBQ restaurant.

The patio is large and very nice. There are plenty of seats and tables both in the sun and the shade. We were able to pick either spot.

One negative thing I noticed when we first arrived, there was no music and no TV. I can live without a TV, but not on a Saturday afternoon when their are awesome college football games on. A TV or two would have been a nice addition. We ended up streaming the game on our phone.

Also, there was no music outside. I’m not sure if there are speakers out there or not, but live music did show up halfway into our visit. I wasn’t sure if this was a Milton law because the brewery backs up to a neighborhood.

The second issue, which looks like it is being remedied, was food. The restaurant next door appears almost finished.

The third issue was the lack of nonalcoholic options. One friend does not drink alcohol and the only option for him was water poured from a large glass container at the bar. Again, maybe this issue gets fixed with the BBQ restaurant.

Overall, it is a nice spot with plenty of potential. I think we may have visited this brewery a little too early.

The Beers at Six Bridges Brewing

This wasn’t my first time trying a beer from Six Bridges. I had an American style IPA at a restaurant, served in a can. Honestly, it was not my favorite. Therefore, my expectations weren’t very high for this brewery. However, I was proven wrong. I enjoyed the beers I sampled at the taproom. My perception definitely changed.

Cryo Hills IPA from Six Bridges in Crabapple

To start off, I had the Cryo Hills, which is a New England style IPA. The color really shined. I was expecting the beer to sip much stronger and heavier than it drank. It drank light and refreshing. This surprised me for a beer than comes in at 6.3% ABV.

After drinking it, I realized they brewed this one in collaboration with Indio brewing in Sugar Hill, which I visited a few months ago and enjoyed, but have not written a review for yet.

Vienna Lager from Six Bridges brewing in Crabapple

The second beer I tried was the Vienna Lager. I really enjoyed this beer. It reminded me of my days living in Pennsylvania near the main Yuengling brewery. It is a tasty lager with flavors of roasted malts.

The third beer, which I forgot to snap a pic of, was the Macon Bridges Cold IPA. Honestly, I ordered this because I never really saw a “cold” IPA before and I like trying something new.

If you are like me and don’t know what a cold IPA is, I looked it up.

At its core, a Cold IPA is an IPA that includes adjuncts – namely flaked rice and/or corn – in the grist, has no caramel malts, is fermented to a very low final gravity using a lager yeast at the higher end of its temperature range, and dry-hopped during fermentation

Northern Brewer

This beer is 7.7% ABV and usually a beer this strong you can really taste the alcohol. Yet, this drank so light and crisp or maybe I wasn’t starting to feel it and lost my senses! Either way, I really enjoyed this beer and would surely order it again.

Overall, my original perception of my canned beer experience from Six Bridges was wrong. Every beer I sampled from the taproom was outstanding.

Six Bridges Brewing is located in the Crabapple neighborhood in Milton at 1850 Heritage Walk, Milton, GA 30004.
