After a walk on the Roswell Riverwalk with the family, the kids were starving. They love a good cheeseburger, so we decided to try Lucky’s Burger and Brew in Roswell. This will be a review of our experience at the restaurant.
We thought about eating outside like many others were, but the early morning spring air was enough to chill the kids a little too much on our walk. So, we asked for a table inside.
The indoor restaurant is cozy and filled with pictures of Lucky the dog. We sat is a large, elevate half circle booth. The bar area is colorful and has a painted mural overtop of dogs in the park.
Lucky’s Burger and Brew Location
Little did I know that there are actually three locations for Lucky’s Burger and Brew around Metro Atlanta. You can find them, like I did, in Roswell or you can go to Brookhaven and Marietta.
The menu’s and concept appear to be very similar, if not the same. Anyway, today we are highlighting the Roswell location.
The Roswell Lucky’s Burger and Brew is located right off Alpharetta Street, not far from Downtown Roswell’s, Canton Street. You could walk from there if you want.
The restaurant has a large patio off the front of the building. In addition, you will find a separate structure with covered seating called the dog house.
Behind the dog house is more seating and a green area with games like cornhole. This is perfect space for the dogs and the kids. My kids get bored easily, so having a space where they can run around is fantastic.
The Burger’s
For lunch I had Georgia Dawg Pounder. I asked for it to be cooked medium and the burger was cooked to perfection, slightly pink in the center.
The burger came with a fried pimento cheese ball on top and lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. It also had a red pepper jelly on the bun. I thought it would be spicy, but I found it more sweet than spicy.
When I grabbed the burger, the pimento cheese ball smushed down and the cheese spread over the burger. This was great for flavor, but it was a little messy to eat. I figured out why they had an ample supply of napkins on the table.
I enjoyed my burger, but I found myself wishing I ordered what my wife had.
She ordered the Memphis Blood Hound. I could smell the bacon and the barbeque sauce. There was a lot of bacon, and no she didn’t offer me any. She could only handle half the burger and took the rest home for later. I had burger envy.
Burger Rating
While this isn’t the best burger in Atlanta, I rate the burger as above average and it deserves a spot on the list of great burgers in the metro area. When considering the price, at $13, it was a great value.
The portion size was more than I generous and it was cooked exactly as I asked. The flavors were very good too. The Georgia Dawg burger was better than a typical restaurant burger, but I had high expectations since this is primarily a burger restaurant, and I ordered their number 1 burger offering.
For me, I think it was missing something, seasoning maybe. Or maybe I expecting the red pepper jelly to pack a little more punch. Either way, it was really delicious.
Overall, it’s a great restaurant, fun atmosphere, really good food and doesn’t break the bank. I envision the family coming back for more.
