I mentioned to a friend that I was headed to Dunwoody for an appointment. He immediately told me that I had to stop at NFA Burger. He says it is the best burger in Atlanta.

After a quick google search, I see it is getting glowing reviews.

I also realized, this burger restaurant is located inside a Chevron gas station.

Unique.

Yet, slightly odd for a burger restaurant with glowing reviews.

I was intrigued.

I had to make a stop at NFA Burger.

The Restaurant

Parking was limited, so I proceeded behind the building and parked next the the picnic bench area, that is covered with shade. People were either enjoying a burger and tots, or waiting for food.

I walked around to the front of the gas station and you can see signage in the window.

Yes, it truly is a working gas station, not a converted brown field.

Actually, the ordering experience is rather different. I stood by the cooking counter for a few minutes looking over the menu waiting for someone to ask me what I wanted, like most other burger joints I frequent.

However, a young man walked over from behind me and told me I could place an order with him. He had an ordering system set up behind a Covid glass shield.

I ordered a double with cheese, with grilled onions, bacon, sassy sauce and a pickle. My son ordered a single with bacon.

After ordering, we stood around waiting for our food. This same young man walked over and informed me they would bring the burgers out to the picnic area.

I felt like an obvious tourist to this burger joint.

The NFA Burger

The burgers came out in a brown paper bag. They were wrapped in red and white checkered paper.

My initial take was that It looked delicious.

The bread looked like something I could buy in a grocery store. Like a potato roll bun.

The burger itself was crispy and seasoned well.

One child at the table next to us thought it was too spicy. They made him one without the seasoning. However, the seasoning didn’t bother my son. He devoured the burger.

The seasoning adds flavor, but no noticeable heat to it. But, I could see an objection by some kids.

My double was crispy and with the right amount of grease to it. The sassy sauce was a mayo and ketchup combo sauce and added a nice tang.

The onions and bacon toppings I ordered were chopped. This was a nice feature. Usually, burgers come with whole onion rings or slices of bacon. I really liked them chopped.

NFA Burger Experience Summary

Overall, I rank this burger towards the top of the list in Atlanta. The quirks of the ordering process were unique. The value that you get is outstanding. Especially when you consider the price. A single burger was just 6.50 plus topping. The double was $8 plus toppings.

This is an incredible value. This burger is better than some of the $17 burgers I have had at restaurants. The price really makes NFA burger stand out in my mind.

It’s an incredible burger at a very reasonable price.
