If you are looking for a romantic, date night with your significant other, there is nothing better than a night out at a fancy restaurant. Let’s introduce some of the best fancy restaurants in Atlanta.
Warning, some of these restaurants are expensive. When you are looking for fine dining restaurants, usually they come with a price.
I assume if you are toasting the town, you are willing to be flexible on location to find the best upscale, fancy restaurant. As usual on this site, we cover Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs. A few of these locations push outside the perimeter.
Some key things to note about these restaurants:
- A few of these fancy restaurants have multiple locations around Atlanta. I included them on the map.
- Most of these restaurants are in high demand. For the best experience, reservations are pretty much recommended. A few of these places are booked out a month or more in advance.
- Some of these restaurants can really break the budget. Check out the menu’s ahead of time so you know what you are getting into.
- Most of the restaurants require a business casual dress code. Check the requirements for each restaurant you plan to visit.
- These Atlanta based fancy restaurants range from steakhouses to seafood, with even a few international restaurants included.
While we haven’t had a chance to visit all of these restaurants yet. Though, we will, as part of our journey to visit as many Atlanta restaurants as we can.

Bacchanalia
Neighborhood: West Midtown Atlanta
One of the highest regarded restaurants in Atlanta, you will enjoy a four course, prix fixe menu. The menu changes slightly from night to night and over the seasons to ensure the freshest ingredients. The cuisine at Bacchanalia is modern American with plenty of fresh veggies, a variety meat dishes and seafood available on the menu.

Marcel
Neighborhood: West Midtown Atlanta
While named after the French fighter Marcel Cerdan, fighting is not what this restaurant is all about. It is a toast to the classics. Steaks and seafood created with classic techniques. Expect fantastic steaks cooked to perfection.

Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails
Neighborhood: Milton
Milton’s restaurant resides in an old farmhouse, preserving the legacy of Milton in North Fulton county. The restaurant is charming and the food is elevated southern style cuisine. Many of the ingredients are sourced directly from the garden. If you are up for a fun experience with a group, a few weeks out of the year, they offer family style garden side dining.

Little Alley Steak
Neighborhood: Buckhead & Roswell
With two locations in metro Atlanta, one in Roswell and one in Buckhead, Little Alley Steak prepares delicious steaks. This is one of the best Roswell restaurants. Even Forbes agrees, this is one of the best 100 steakhouses in America.

Neighborhood: Vinings
Located in a manicured yet rustic setting along the Chattahoochee River in the Vinings neighborhood, Canoe offers a seasonal menu filled with interesting dishes with traditional dishes as well as some game meats in a fine dining setting.

King & Duke
Neighborhood: Buckhead
The 24 foot hearth is the heart of this restaurant. The food is prepared over fire. The name has origins to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and its literary theme is showcased throughout the restaurant. The primitive cooking technique showcases the wonderful ingredients.

The Optimist
Neighborhood: West Midtown Atlanta
If you are looking for the best seafood ingredients, sourced from sustainable locations and cooked to perfection, The Optimist is a great seafood option. They are one of the best seafood restaurants in Atlanta and their lobster roll is magnificent if you are not tempted by one of their many excellent fish dishes.

Chops & Lobster Bar
Neighborhood: Buckhead
If you’ve lived in Atlanta you probably have heard about Chops. The are consistently named one of the best steakhouses in the country. They also have some great seafood options, but for me, the steak is where its at. Or go for the Surf and Turf, you can add a 7oz lobster tail to your steak, for additional cost.

Pampas Steakhouse
Neighborhood: Johns Creek
Located in Johns Creek, Pampas Steakhouse is an Argentinian style steakhouse is consistently rated as one of the best steakhouses in the metro area. Select your cut and the chef will cook your steak over a wood fire grill. The bone-in filet is delicious.

Nan Thai Fine Dining
Neighborhood: Midtown
This is an award winning restaurant and an award winning chef. The combination makes for a menu offering where everything looks amazing. We could really return again and again to try each entrée offering. While the prices are high, so is the value. They really are one of the best Thai restaurants in Atlanta.

Blue Ridge Grill
Neighborhood: Buckhead
While not in Blue Ridge, this Buckhead restaurant features some local flavors like the Georgia Trout. The restaurant is reminiscent to a cozy cabin you would find in the Blue Ridge Mountains bringing rustic sophistication to your dining experience.

Osteria Mattone
Neighborhood: Roswell
One of the only pure Italian restaurants on the list, Osteria Mattone in Roswell offers fine dining courses or sampling some of the best homemade pasta in Atlanta. If you want to go less formal, sip Peroni and snack on a pizza by the bar.
If you are wondering what the name means, it’s translated to mean simple brick Italian restaurant.

One of the only sushi restaurants on the list, Umi recently got in to trouble enforcing their dress code. If you can look past that issue, Umi really delivers some of the best sushi and Japanese food in Atlanta. Empire State South
Neighborhood: Midtown Atlanta
Empire State South is high class, without feeling pretentious. You can order the 4 or 6 course tasting menu’s at this Top Chef judges restaurant in Atlanta. There is a wine pairing menu for each course for an additional fee.

This unique restaurant is usually booked a month in advance, but the decor and environment are amazing. From what I have heard from friends, the cocktails are just as good as the food.
