With over 50 Atlanta breweries and brewpubs in the metropolitan area, the craft brew scene is starting to take hold over Atlanta. If you are visiting, its hard to know which Atlanta brewery is the best place to start. I created this directory of metro Atlanta breweries to help guide you depending on the type of brews or atmosphere you are looking for.
We have visited and reviewed over 10 Atlanta breweries so far. You will find that links to that detail for more information.
We want to get to them all!
Before documenting the Atlanta breweries, a bit on my preference. Everyone has different beer preferences, so I thought it would be helpful to share mine before discussing the craft breweries.

My Favorite Styles of Beer
I love IPA’s, hazy New England style is my favorite. They have to be well done. Think of Julius at Tree House Brewing in Massachusetts as a good representation of the genre. We need more brews like that.
Belgian beers are in a close second place. After traveling and living in Belgium, I love most every Belgian beer variety. The USA has a lot of work to do making good beers in this genre.
Sour beers are new to me and come in third place. Only recently after a trip to the Funkatorium in Asheville, I started to enjoy sour beers. They are now my favorite after a day at the lake or on a hot day.
There aren’t many beer styles I don’t enjoy, short of most ambers, browns and porters.
I also love home brewing, and had a small ambition to start a brewpub one day. However, my hobby is not refined enough for mass consumption, with the limited time I devote to the craft. Therefore, the home brew never makes it out of the taps in the basement.
Although, there is plenty of opportunity to open a brewery when comparing Atlanta to a city like Pittsburgh. That small city has more craft breweries than Atlanta. I digress, maybe one day I will get the nerve.
About this Atlanta Brewery Guide
For this guide, we will start listing the breweries inside the perimeter and then outside the perimeter. The breweries outside the perimeter tend to be found mostly in the northern suburbs of Atlanta.
If you are only concerned with visiting the best Georgia breweries, I looked at ratings data and categorized the best breweries in Atlanta, the suburbs, all of Georgia and so on.
If you are joining on a brewery tour, always make sure you enjoy your brews responsibly. There are a number of brewery bus tours available for individuals or for group tours.
